The National Trust has launched a new award called the Time + Space Award that will give the winners time, space, support and inspiration to unlock their big ideas at Sir Isaac Newton’s home in Lincolnshire, where he discovered gravity in his ‘year of wonders’ and the famous apple tree still stands.

There are four awards up for grabs and with entries open to anyone aged 16-25 years until 30 April 2024. Each award is worth up to the equivalent of £5000 and includes a package of mentoring, time with experts, resources, expenses and more to help the winners realise their big idea. For a chance to win, all students need to do is answer one of the below questions via the entry form here.

  • Nature & Climate: Nature and climate are in crisis. How can your big idea save them and help us break out of the echo chamber?
  • Arts & Culture: Access to art and culture isn’t equal. How can your big idea address the imbalance?
  • Science: How can science be more accessible and relevant to everyone?
  • Society: What’s your big idea that would change society for the better, for everyone?

Entries will be judged by an expert panel including Prof. David Olusoga, British space scientist Dame Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, zoologist, wildlife TV presenter & science communicator Megan McCubbin and TV presenter, social & environmental activist Tayshan Hayden-Smith
