Mentoring Opportunity with a Solicitor

The Birmingham Trainee Solicitors Society (BTSS) are offering WP students the opportunity to be mentored by a solicitor between January-March 2022. The BTSS have identified mentors from a number of different departments and Law Firms in Birmingham, who have a wealth of experience both in law and externally, which they would like to share with student mentees.
Once matched with an established professional, you would gain 1-1 support from your mentor to develop your potential and support you in your career journey, which can help:
- Inspire and grow your confidence
- Develop key professional and personal skills
- Provide you with an insight into professional life in a law firm
- Grow your professional network
This will be of particular interest to students considering a career as a solicitor, potentially working in a regional firm, as well as alternatives to Law and different qualification routes, as some of the mentors have had a variety of careers before qualifying as a solicitor.
Eligibility
Open to students from widening participation, underrepresented, low-income, first-generation, social mobility & minority backgrounds, preferably in your penultimate year of study (although first years and finalists will be considered).
How to apply
Apply online through the Advancing Your Strengths Mentoring Programme portal by midnight on Tuesday 11 January. Don’t forget to include on the form any areas of Law, or Firms, you are particularly interested in.
