In the current situation it can be hard to access the experience you need to develop your skills, explore your career interests and position yourself for future applications. On 5 June Bright Network launch their new virtual internship programme which starts on the 29 June.

The virtual internship has been developed in collaboration with 30 leading graduate recruiters including Accenture, EY, Clyde & Co, Goldman Sachs and the UK Parliament. It is free to students who wish to join the programme. Students interested in taking part need to complete a short application of 150 words stipulating why they would like to do the internship and the sector they are interested in. Six specialist sector options are available including commercial law, banking, business and operations , engineering, technology and consulting. Participants can choose more than 1 sector (providing sessions are not running concurrently). It is a live virtual internship however sessions will be recorded so that students can revisit them afterwards.

The internship takes place over 3 days. Day 1 includes on-boarding and induction events (core skills, networking and managing yourself) and there will be specialist modules offered across all 6 sectors. The specialist sector modules will be delivered by graduate employers (minimum 2 per module). Students can take up to 3 modules that are not running concurrently and modules include an introduction to the specialist module (e.g. for law introduction to commercial law and practice areas, a day in the life of a trainee, associate and partner) and a core sector skills session (e.g. includes drafting for law) prior to students being allocated work related tasks and projects which are completed over day 2 and 3 of the internship. Review and feedback on tasks is included prior to a review of the internship experience and recognition activities prior to a celebratory event at the end.
